Okay....this is getting ridiculous!

I guess with the creation of Facebook, I hardly blog anymore. :(  So....here goes a quick update on the past year!

The triplets are now 6 and in 1st grade!  They had a wonderful kindergarten year and they all have made great gains in learning a second language. Mom and Dad are doing our best to try to keep up and support them in this adventure!~  Although they were all in Mrs. Chocolatl's class last year, we decided to split them up for 1st grade.  Emmerson and Logan are together in Mrs. Morgan's class and Brody is in Miss Ascensio's class.  So far, so good!  It's only been a week....but a GOOD week, so yay!  Here are some photos from the first week of school.

In addition, our baby Isabelle started preschool this year! We are so excited that she is going to the same school the triplets went to. She is in Miss Michele's class (Emmi's old teacher) and goes 5 days a week on the bus!  Izzi was MORE than ready to start school and she has had a wonderul first week as well!

In the spring we purchased a travel trailer for our family and we have had a blast camping all over!  We were gone a lot over the summer and the kids are loving trying out new campgrounds....and of course eating smores! :) 

We also took our 3rd trip to Disney World at the beginning of the summer. I never thought we would be "Mickey Crazy", but we are!  It really is a magical place and our family has such a great time when we go!  This time we drove down with our good friends, the Easts.  They have a Class A RV so the ride down was done in STYLE!  While down there, we visited with uncle Brian and Papa!  He flew down to celebrate his 60th birthday and father's day with all of us!  It was a wonderful trip!

First time going in the ocean (Isabelle....and Papa)
First time riding the train to the city
First time going to the Air and Water show (....and we shared that with Grandma Linda and G.Jim)
First time swimming without flotation devices (triplets)
......I'm sure there were more, but I can't remember them all! :)  It was a great year! 

 

Now....to keep up with the blog so that I don' t have to try to re-cap the enitre year in a post. :)

Kindergarten 2012

It is hard to believe, but those 30 weekers are now 5 and have started kindergarten!  They are in the Dual Language program and are all in the same classroom....(Lord help that teacher! )  Speaking of their teacher, Mrs. Chocolatl, she is GREAT!  We are already so impressed with how much she knows our kids and since DAY 1, has been able to keep the boys straight!  We know many people that still can't do that. :)  So far, we have recieved a good report from the kids about school!  They LOVE being able to eat lunch at school and recess is Logan's favorite time of the day.  They are making new friends and have already begun learning new words and sounds in Spanish. We have already had our first parent teacher conference and we are happy to report that the teacher says they are doing terrific!  They know almost all of their numbers to 35 and can identify and say the letters and sounds they were tested on so far. They also know all their shapes and colors in Spanish too!  We could not be more proud of our trio!

We won the lottery!!!

Well, not the state lottery....but still very exciting!  We were in the lottery for the dual language program in our school district.  There were only 10 slots open for the upcoming school year and many families who wanted to get into the program.  We feel very blessed that our family's name was chosen and that starting this fall, the Kelsey triplets will be learning Spanish in a full immersion kindergarten classroom.  This program will continue through 5th grade, at which point, they will most likely be bilingual and bi-literate. What a wonderful opportunity!!

 It was really hard being out of control of such a huge decision.  We also had some concerns about the program since it means not being at our home school and with only two sections, the triplets will need to be together in some capacity.  They have been in separate classrooms since beginning preschool two years ago.  However, as we discussed all the unknowns and possibilities, and as our anxiety grew, I told John, "we need to give this up to the Lord. If it is meant to be, He will see it through. If we get in, it is where they are meant to be....if not, the Lord has other plans for them.  Things will work out just as they should."  It was at that moment that I felt such peace with the entire process. Anytime I would get anxious, I would pray that God would lead us and I would feel relaxed again. 

The week that we found out, I think God was preparing my heart for the news. He wanted to make sure that my "mommy worries" would be put to rest.  Although we have never told the triplets about a possibility of a Spanish program, nor do we even watch Dora, I found them playing in "Spanish".  They set up a train and told me that it was a "Spanish train".  They proceeded to make up their own words, which they pretended were Spanish, as they role played the conductor and passengers. It was really cute, and let me know that they would embrace an opportunity to learn another language.  Then, later that week, I went to a triplet tree dinner.  I sat right next to another triplet mom who has her children (4th grade) in a dual language program. She was able to answer so many of my questions and concerns specifically related to triplets. God works in wonderful and mysterious ways! 

We are all very excited to start this adventure this fall!  And on a side note, I just can't wait until these little blue eyed, blondies bust out Spanish! I bet the reactions of people will be priceless! :)

Over a year ....and so much to share!

I can't believe it has been a year since my last blog post!  I think I knew I had gotten so far behind that I didn't know how to catch up on all the events I had missed.  Many people have asked me to start writing again...and I really want to....so here it goes!

Since I was so overwhelmed by all the posts I missed, I decided to just let the last year go and focus on our most exciting recent event....our trip to DISNEY WORLD!!  We went over spring break and were accompanied by Grandma Linda and Grandpa Jim and by Grandma and Grandpa Kelsey.  Uncle Brian even joined us there for a few days. It was so nice to share in this wonderful trip! 

 It was the flower and garden show at Epcot....there were beautiful shrubs and flowers all around the park! The kids loved finding their favorite characters!

 Cinderella asked Prince Charming if she could keep this new little mouse she found (Izzi)....he said she could if I would let her go....of course I would NOT! :) Cinderella really took a liking to Izzi...and Izzi to her! So cute!

 Just watched the fireworks...Kids were pumped to stay at the park VERY late that night...we made it til 3:30 am!! We had the part to ourselves and were able to ride so many rides with NO wait! :)  ps...LOVE the pirate hat on Tink!

 Brody was the only one who braved the Pirates of the Caribbean ride with me...although he would NOT let us wear our hats while on the ride in fear that the pirates would see us!:) Too cute!

 We had a magical time on our trip! It was so much fun and the weather was perfect!  Just a few special moments:
After riding Test Track at Epcot, the boys excitingly asked to "go again"...knowing there was a 90min wait, we said no....but then, a cast member told us to walk over this bridge where we were promptly put back on the ride!  Excited and thankful, we went up to the cast member to say thank you and she said, "you just can't say no to Buzz and Woody."

Another great moment was getting to sit 2nd row at the Beauty and the Beast stage show by COMPLETE accident.... followed by a cast member sitting us in the VIP section of the Indiana Jones Stunt show after we arrived to a standing room only packed theater!  It made us feel so special and the magic really came through!

I'm NOT tired....!

So, many times when we put the kids to bed, they will sneak out of their room and sit at the top of the stairs and watch TV quietly until we "catch them". This night, we knew he was up there, but thought we would "ride it out" and see what happened if we didn't say anything....Well, needless to say, he didn't make it very long!

We knew he had crashed when we could no longer see his head....

We had to take these while trying to keep our chuckles quiet! :)

Fun-time with Floam!

Floam is this amazing product that never dries out, creates little mess and allows kids to make it into just about anything! My kids love to play with it and I love that they can do it without making a huge mess. :) This was just one morning as we all sat around the table playing...Brody and Izzi were still sleeping. And I'm not sure why Daddy didn't get his picture taken.

No makeup, just woke up, and I have a weird floam hat.....BUT this is a memory of me playing with my kids, so I HAD to include it. :)

Little Soccer Stars

The boys are playing soccer for the first time! They are on the Wolves and they are having so much fun. They are learning basic skills and team work. The hardest part so far has been learning NOT to use their hands. The weather hasn't been great, so we are hoping that the remaining games don't get canceled. :)
